Her birth name was Penelope Anne Peters but everyone in Fork In the Road called her Penny Honey. She hated the name but it stuck to her like gum on your shoe sole in summertime, until 1963, when she first heard Dylan singing, "The Times They are a Changing", and she stopped wearing panties and bras. Neal Cassidy of Kerouac's, "On The Road" got stranded in town while hitchhiking on Route 66, and found Penny Honey swinging alone at the park and before the night was through she had had lost her virginity, discovered marijuana and Bob Dylan, but maybe not in that order.

She followed Neal to California where she got enlightenment in Big Sur, tripped in Haight Ashbury and fell in love with the Grateful Dead. Her contact with Timothy Leary led her through all of the eastern religions and when she migrated back to Oklahoma to teach birth control and yoga at the local clinics, the town's people mostly called her a full-fledged freak.

Rumor has that one night while channeling the spirit of Madame Blavatsky during an all night yoga séance a bright yellow light lit up the entire town and the next morning Penny was headless, or rather no one could see her head except Aunt Bernie and Karma. She continued to conduct workshops with Karma's help  who local gossips claimed was her illegitimate daughter, fathered by Jerry Garcia.
